The EXTRA Galentine's Day Party I Threw
What is Galentine's Day you ask? It is a holiday created by Leslie Knope, aka Amy Poehler's character on Parks and Recreation. Galentine's Day falls the day before Valentine's day and celebrates the power of female friendships. I chose to celebrate my ladies with a boozy brunch filled with sweet snacks, lots of pink, and a shit ton of heart decor.
It was my first time hosting a Galentine's Day party and I went extra. I'm talking custom agate placeholders from Etsy extra.
I knew I wanted this party to be special, well more than special, I wanted to blow my friends away. I planned for weeks. I ordered the from Etsy, World Market, CB2, Target, Amazon, you name it, I shopped it.
The whole idea for this party actually started by me seeing a picture of a mimosa bar. I saw the colorful juices lined up and immediately started picturing it in my mind. I knew I would need pitchers, different fruit juices, a runner, and an ice bucket to chill the champagne. From there I was unstoppable. I made the invitations, I texted my girlfriends to keep February 11th open, and I was off and shopping. Curating the perfect look for my Galentine party.
In my dining room I decorated with pops of pink, purple and red. I used ranunculus and roses as my center piece and scattered heart confetti all over the table. Red and pink heart balloons lined the walls and pink plates and glassware lined the table.
The menu for the day was avocado toast, bacon and blueberry pancakes, all made by my sweet husband.
On the buffet I prepare our mimosa bar with pitchers of orange juice and POG and chilled champagne.
In the living room, I laid out the sweets. Heart shaped funfetti cake and matching Rice Krispie treats. This may not seem like a big deal but I am not joking when I say I don't cook. I have never in my life cooked meat and if it was up to me, I would be ordering take out every night. So baking this cake and assisting my husband in the making of these Rice Krispie treats was kind of a big deal.
All in all, this was one of my favorite days. I had my most inspiring girlfriends over and I was able to decorate the way I always want to, with lots of pink and hearts.
Who else celebrates Galentine's Day and how'd you decorate? I'm already gathering more inspo for next year.
